Mitt Romney is Doing Just Fine

Looks like Mitt Romney stepped in some deep doodoo. He meant what he said just wish he’d said it more “elegantly”. How do you elegantly say, “you people” are lazy and have a sense of entitlement? You can’t! It’s why I say, leave Mitt alone he’s doing just fine!

Mother Jones broke the story of Mitt Romney expressing disdain for 47% of Americans while addressing his supporters at a $50,000 per plate fundraiser. When Romney was asked how he could win in November, he replied:

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax…[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.

(You can see the video, here.)

Well, from that we KNOW that he’s not concerned with 47% of Americans. Surely there are other sectors that we do not know about.

To me the most egregious thing about this position that Romney has taken is that he and his wealthy friends pay so little in taxes (relative to other tax payers) that they aren’t the one’s footing the bill for whom the government provides, so he really doesn’t have a leg to stand on here.

I am all about personal responsibility, but for those chronically dependent on the government their issues are wider and deeper than just financial, and getting to the point of self-reliance is a long arduous journey which needs, at its core, compassion if it’s ever going to change; something that “trust fund babies” – Mitt and his cronies know nothing about! Tending to Americans is not just about the money.

I think we just need to keep giving Mitt enough rope and opportunity because he’s doing a bang-up job toward political suicide  (at least for the presidential 2012 election); be it doodoo drowning or hanging.

Keep up the great work, Mitt!

I’m just really not sure of whom he is speaking, because just about everybody I know is actually working…at something. Even if it’s being a mom, you are working. I also don’t know people who really think it’s the Governments responsibility to take care of them, they aren’t standing at the mailbox waiting, they’re out working to put food on the table. And while Insurance from companies is great, even the people who aren’t provided insurance from their companies know that it’s not an entitlement. Obama’s healthplan is giving the opportunity to millions to have health care who didn’t before, and I bet if you poll them, none of them feel entitled, just grateful.

I’m with you Z, give him the rope, let’s get on with our lives of personal responsibility and earning a living.

Excellent points @Redwing.girl! Romney clearly doesn’t get out much, lol…or at least not around the regular folks. The thought only serving his friends is a scary, scary thought!

I’m looking forward to him taking himself out! 🙂 Thanks for your comment Redwing. girl! 😉
